As a result, you must run the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/fixquotas script and then remount the file system after each <\/span><b>CloudLinux<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 7 update.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Servers that use the<\/span><b> XFS\u00ae<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> filesystem and run the <\/span><b>CentOS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 7, <\/span><b>CloudLinux<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 7 or 8, <\/span><b>AlmaLinux<\/b> <b>OS 8<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or <\/span><b>Red Hat\u00ae<\/b> <b>Enterprise Linux\u00ae<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RHEL) 7 operating systems will require additional procedures if you disable and then enable quotas:<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHM Interface \u2014 To configure quotas, go to <\/span><b>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Initial Quota Setup (<\/span><b>WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initial Quota Setup).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remount the file system after running the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/fixquotas script.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using the Command Line (<\/span><b>manually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) \u2014 Read the <\/span><b>Red Hat XFS and XFS Quota<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Management documentation for details on how to manually conduct the activities of the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/fixquotas script.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will explain how to check whether the disc space quotas on your system&#8217;s devices are appropriately configured.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quotas <\/span><b>must <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be enabled for any device with cPanel accounts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Fix quotas<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perform the following steps to see if your devices are using quotas:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Important<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Before doing these operations, you must connect in as the root user via SSH on your machine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Run the mount command<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get basic information about presently mounted file systems, use the mount command.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system displays information for all of its mounted file systems when you use this command without any arguments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Quota-enabled entries have the usrquota variable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \/dev\/mapper\/VolGroup00-LogVol00 device employs quotas, as shown in the following example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1-1.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9059\" src=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1-1-300x187.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1-1-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1-1.png 555w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The mount command documentation is a good place to start if you want to learn more about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Examine the contents of the fstab file<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within a system, the file system table (fstab) file maps devices to their appropriate mount points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The contents of the fstab file will look something like this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Keep in mind<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that entries with the usrquota variable are quota-enabled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/2-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9060\" src=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/2-1-300x121.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/2-1-300x121.png 300w, https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/2-1.png 630w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>How to enable quotas<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After you&#8217;ve determined which devices don&#8217;t use quotas, follow the steps below to enable quotas for the devices you want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Run the initquotas script<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Run the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/initquotas script to enable quotas on a device. The usrquota string is added to the Options column of the \/etc\/fstab file by this script.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Verify that you enabled quota files<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirm that the quota files exist in the root directory (\/) and that each file is greater than 0 bytes after running the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/initquotas script.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the ls command with a wildcard character. Consider the following scenario:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/3-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9061\" src=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/3-1-300x64.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"666\" height=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/3-1-300x64.png 300w, https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/3-1.png 532w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ls command is used in the preceding example to list the contents of the root directory (\/).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The -l switch tells ls to display its output in a long listing format. This format displays the following information:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The permissions of the file.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Which user is the owner of the file?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Which organization owns the file.?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>In bytes, What is the file&#8217;s size?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>On which date the file was last modified?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If these files are missing, rerun the \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/initquotas script to generate them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If these files exist but quotas are not working, delete them and then execute the scripts \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/initquotas or \/usr\/local\/cpanel\/scripts\/fixquotas<\/span><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ensure quotas report on the system<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To validate that quotas have been activated on the device, run the following command:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/4-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-9062\" src=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/4-1-300x43.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"572\" height=\"82\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/4-1-300x43.png 300w, https:\/\/cpanelplesk.com\/wp62\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/4-1.png 595w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 572px) 100vw, 572px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This command displays all of the file systems listed in the \/etc\/mtab file, along with their reads and writes permissions and quota options.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What if my quotas still do not function?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you continue to have issues, take one of the following steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the System section of WHM&#8217;s Tweak Settings interface<\/span><b> (WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; Tweak Settings)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, disable the Cache disc quota information setting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the \/var\/cpanel\/cpanel.config file, set the disable quota cache parameter to 0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;re still having trouble with quotas, <strong>submit a support ticket<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you enable Quota System Administration notifications in the Contact Manager interface (WHM &gt;&gt; Home &gt;&gt; Server Contacts &gt;&gt; Contact Manager), the system will notify you when it&#8217;s time to reboot and when the quota scan is complete and the quotas are operational.
