Sometimes you\u00a0need to migrate your WordPress website, or change the location of your WordPress installation.These settings can be adjusted directly in the WordPress admin dashboard from Settings >> General<\/strong> or you can make these modifications to your wp-config.php<\/strong> file and directly in the database as well.<\/p>\n

Change WordPress address in admin dashboard<\/h3>\n

If you want to change WordPress website URL, you can do it in Dashboard<\/b> at http:\/\/yourdomain\/wp-admin.<\/p>\n

1. Log in to WordPress admin panel Settings<\/b> > General<\/b>.
\n2. Update WordPress Address (URL)<\/b> line and Site Address (URL)<\/b> lines and save the changes:
\nThis method will typically work if you haven’t moved your WordPress installation<\/a> and aren’t having any issues access it.<\/p>\n

3. You will also need to re-generate the permalinks<\/a> to make sure they have the new URL in\u00a0 Settings<\/b> >Permalinks\u00a0<\/b>and set it to default .<\/p>\n

Change WordPress address with wp-config.php file<\/h3>\n

The easiest way to modify your WordPress URLs is the wp-config.php<\/strong> file.<\/p>\n

  1. Edit your wp-config.php<\/a><\/strong> file.<\/li>\n
  2. Define your WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL settings by adding these lines at the top:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    define('WP_HOME','http:\/\/yourdomain.com');\r\ndefine('WP_SITEURL','http:\/\/yourdomain.com');\r\n<\/pre>\n
    Then simply load your site from its new location,it should work fine now.<\/p>\n
    Change WordPress address directly in the Database<\/h3>\n
    If\u00a0 Dashboard\u00a0 <\/b>is not opening or not letting you in for some reasons, you can perform the changes directly in MySQL database.<\/p>\n

    1. Login to your cPanel and navigate to phpMyAdmin<\/b> menu.<\/li>\n
    2. Choose the database which is being used for your WordPress blog and click on it.<\/li>\n
    3. Click on wp-options<\/b> table and edit siteurl<\/b> and home <\/b>fields.<\/li>\n
    4. Enter in your new value in the option_value<\/strong> field, then click Go<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      Go back to your website and refresh the page to check the results.<\/p>\n
