We have previously discuss how to install\u00a0CWP<\/a> on your VPS\/Server.Today we are going to perform some basic security steps to secure your server,Follow these simple steps to do so.<\/p>\n

CHANGE DEFAULT SSH PORT<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is very necessary to change your default ssh port:<\/p>\n

Login to CWP Admin page as root via:\u00a0http:\/\/server-ip-address\/cwp<\/p>\n

\"CWP\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Now go to Services Config<\/strong>\u00a0and select\u00a0SSH Configuration<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

In the next page, scroll down till you see two blue buttons. Now click the Create File Backup\u00a0<\/strong>button.<\/p>\n

Once the back up done, now adjust some configurations.Find the line below:<\/p>\n

#port 22<\/p>\n

Remove the # sign and change port to something else like 4567<\/p>\n

Once done save changes.<\/p>\n

ENABLE CSF FIREWALL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now its time to enable Config Server Firewall:<\/p>\n

Go to Security then select CSF Firewall in the left menu<\/p>\n

Click on the green Firewall Enable button to activate the service.<\/p>\n

\"Firewall\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once activated, click on the Firewall Configuration<\/strong> button to edit some configurations.Now add your new SSH port as we defined\u00a0earlier.<\/p>\n

Once done, Click the save changes button,You can adjust the additional settings as per your choice.<\/p>\n

SETUP MOD SECURITY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mod_security is an Apache module that helps to secure\u00a0your website from various attacks by blocking commonly known exploits.<\/p>\n

Go to Security then \u00a0select Mod Security menu<\/p>\n

By default this module is not installed or activated so we have to firstly install it by clicking the green button:<\/p>\n

\"mod<\/a><\/p>\n

Once clicked, now let the compiler to run in background,however you can manually edit each configuration file and adjust the settings as you want.<\/p>\n
