Keep alive is an concept to allow the same tcp connection for HTTP conversation instead of opening a new one with each new request.
\nMore simply , Keep alive is also known as a persistent connection.<\/p>\n

How to enable keep alive<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keep-alive can be enabled using the “Connection: Keep-Alive” \u00a0in HTTP header.<\/p>\n

Enabling keep-alive depends on what server you are using and what you have access to. We cover the most common methods here.<\/p>\n

Enable keep-alive using .htaccess<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you do not have access to your webserver config file then you can enable keep-alive using an .htaccess file.<\/p>\n

Adding above code in\u00a0to your .htaccess file will add keep alive headers to your requests, and\u00a0will override most webserver or host limitations.<\/p>\n
Enable keep-alive in Apache<\/strong><\/p>\n
By default Keep-Alive is disabled in Apache server, We need to edit Apache configuration file and enable Keep-Alive in Apache on CentOS\/RedHat Systems. so follow below step to enable it.<\/p>\n

Now change the values as shown below:<\/p>\n

#\r\n# KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections\r\n#\r\nKeepAlive On\r\n\r\n#\r\n# MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow\r\n# during a persistent connection. \r\n\r\nMaxKeepAliveRequests 100\r\n\r\n#\r\n# KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the\r\n# same client on the same connection.\r\n#\r\nKeepAliveTimeout 15<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n
Now restart Apache service using following command:<\/p>\n

service httpd restart<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n
